The unusual structure of the building symbolizes movement and dynamism. This fits perfectly with an automobile manufac­turer. Over 160 vehicles and around 1,500 exhibits are presented on nine levels, telling the story of automobile devel­opment and the Mercedes-Benz brand. The integration of state-of-the-art media technology ensures an inter­active and impressive visitor tour. From over 250 multi­media displays and projec­tions to person­alized tours, a seamless and impressive experience is offered.

We have been working closely with the museum’s media control experts for 20 years now. This collab­o­ration has shown how important it is for global brands such as Mercedes-Benz to present their history and heritage. They attach particular impor­tance to state-of-the-art and fasci­nating presen­ta­tions. The result is a spectacular museum experience that has gained worldwide recog­nition.

The museum was not only a milestone for Mercedes-Benz, but also a defining project for vir2store and its engineers. The challenges of content management and media control in such a complex and large-scale project led to the funda­mental lead in devel­opment. Content-focused approach:
The central insight was that creative content should not be limited by technical restric­tions. The technology should serve the creators, not the other way around. This led to the devel­opment of vir2cloud, a platform that offers maximum flexi­bility in content playback. By supporting all common file formats, the tedious conversion or adaptation of media content is no longer necessary.

Platform indepen­dence:
With the decision at that time (2004) to rely on the browser as a platform, we estab­lished a pioneering technology that combines system indepen­dence and user-friendliness.
This browser-based solution made it possible to seamlessly integrate and centrally control a variety of systems, regardless of the under­lying operating system.

Relia­bility on a large scale:
The integration of over 250 media players in the Mercedes-Benz Museum showed how important stability and relia­bility are in such an extensive project.
